Kenyan Shadrack Kemboi beat off a strong South African challenge to take the win in the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon on Sunday.

Local runner Lungile Gongqa finished second in 2:11:59, with another South African Michael Mazibuko third in 2:12:29.
Kemboi’s fellow countrywoman Isabella Ochichi took her first marathon victory in 2:30:20, more than three minutes clear of Bahrain’s Eunice Chumba in 2:33:12.
Joan Rotich from Kenya rounded out the women’s podium in a time of 2:37:45.
A field of 5 728 runners from 51 countries took part in the event.
