Madibaz football coach Wayne Iveson wants his team to play without any fear when they compete in the ABC Motsepe League play-offs in Grahamstown on Saturday and Sunday.
Eight Eastern Cape SAB League regional winners divided into two pools will contest the play-offs, with the pool winners earning promotion.
Iveson said they were in a positive mood for what would be an intense weekend and that their mental preparation would be the key to their chances of success.
“I believe that the most important thing is that we don’t play in fear,” he said.
“The players know their roles and functions and we just need to trust our game-plan.
“Mistakes do happen, but the point is not to worry about that and just to go out there to play to the best of your ability.”
After failing to survive the play-offs last year, Iveson said they had absorbed the lessons from 2017.
“The guys have prepared very well and mentally they are in a better place this time,” said Iveson.
“We have no injuries and we are quietly confident but we also understand that there are no guarantees.
“However, I am expecting good things from the guys this weekend.”
