Proteas all-rounder Chris Morris has been ruled out of cricket for up to two months with a left knee injury.
Morris has been managing the niggle for the last eight months, but it has recently worsened, resulting in Cricket South Africa’s medical committee recommending an extended break.
“Chris has been carrying a chronic left knee patella tendon injury which we have treated and managed up to this point.
“The injury has flared up considerably over the last two weeks, leaving us with no option but rest and rehabilitation to allow the knee to fully recover,” said Proteas team manager Mohammed Moosajee.
He added that Morris would target a return to international cricket for the test series against Sri Lanka in December.
