In the first tournament of the 2017/18 HSBC World Sevens Series, South Africa finished unbeaten in Dubai yesterday, and as a result topped Pool A.
The Blitzboks beat Uganda 19-10, Kenya 48-5 and Canda 28-0 respectively to progress to the Cup quarter-finals.
England topped Pool B, Fiji Pool C and New Zealand Pool D respectively, all unbeaten. The South Africans then beat Samoa 26-10 in the Cup quarter-finals this morning to progress to the semi-finals.
Fiji toppled Scotland 35-24 in their quarter-final showdown, while there were also wins for New Zealand (14-12 over Kenya) and England (26-19 over Australia).
The current World Sevens Series Champions South Africa beat Fiji 12-7 in the semi-finals, followed by an exemplary 24-12 victory over New Zealand in the Cup final to win the overall title.
